Every person is a complex cocktail of labels. The complexity comes from within; the labels, from the outside. I try very hard not to put labels on people, confining their complexity to neat little boxes and convenient definitions. But I do acknowledge that those labels can be useful as a means of introduction. So here are some of mine: woman, American/Californian/Angelino, single mom, pop culture junkie, nerd girl, grammar cop, person with multiple sclerosis, unapologetic potty mouth, sometime-athlete, decent writer, good friend, occasional joker, and adult who frequently struggles with adulting.
